Aurora Princess Luna Plush Review

Description

Hi guys! So after checking out my Luna that I received earlier (and being thoroughly impressed, as she is now my favorite official plushie) I decided to do a review! :)

So, I'm pretty new to plushie reviews. I've only really done one before, and it was of the custom Sea Swirl I recieved from RavenLady13. So PLEASE bear with me on this.

So, for starters, this is from the company Aurora. They've been doing MLP plushies for a while, but until just very recently, it had just been the Mane 6 in different sizes. Now, they have added Princess Luna and Spike. Right now, there are no other characters confirmed to get plushies, but I assume they'll add more in time. I'm particularly hopeful for Celestia, Cadance, or the CMC. So, quality-wise, I find Aurora to be very good! Of all the plushies I own, the minky Aurora uses is by far the softest I have ever felt, and has great consistency over time too, as I have noticed lots of plushies I have on my shelf made of minky tend to STILL be soft, but not as insanely soft as they were when I bought them. I assume because of dust or something? Regardless, they are insanely soft. They also have some of the best stuffing. Funrise, while one of my favorite plush companies, tends to not stuff their plushies as much as they used to, and that sometimes ends up with the plushies having understuffed parts and falling over because of that. Aurora, however, stuffs them very nicely and all of the ones I own stand up fantastic and are insanely huggable. Of course, I don't hug my plushies as much as keep them for decoration, but it's nice to know they can double as a pillow if needed.

Now, one of Aurora's few fallbacks, I have to admit, is how they like to bedazzle their plushies a little bit. If you notice, Luna's Mane has specs of a glittery material in it. It's not actual glitter as much as small dots of a sparkly thing to make the hair sparkle. You cannot feel them distinguishably compared to the rest of the mane, thankfully, but appearance-wise it can be a bit annoying. Luna's wings and horn are also made of a more stretchy metallic fabric that glimmers a little bit. It's completely soft thankfully, but I do wish more plushie lines would handle the wings and horns with the same fabric used for the body. Her little teal shoes are also made of this type of fabric, but I think it fits in this case, as Luna's shoes sparkle in the show and look like they'd be made of something shiny in the first place.

Luna's Tiara and Necklace are made of what I believe is felt or fleece, or something similar. The moon on the necklace and detail on the tiara is embroidered instead of printed, which is really nice. They're soft and don't wrinkle or flop like you would think. It really adds to her character.

Now, the pattern of the Aurora plushies is unique. Normally, I feel that the pattern they use is a little awkward in the face and hooves, but Luna's is a brand new pattern and really looks great on her. While I wish her muzzle were a tad smaller, I can see why she has a distinguishable one since hers is more square than other mares in the show. Her body is tall and lean and a bit curvy like it is in the show. I feared that with how skinny he legs were that she might fall over, but as stated above, Aurora does wonderful at stuffing their plushies, and instead she stands tall and does not fall over unless you deliberately push her. Her wings looked floppy in the picture, but instead they actually hold up very well too and keep their shape nicely while staying soft.

Luna's eyes and cutie mark are correct in every way. The cutie mark is one sided, but I don't mind that. They handled it nicely and takes up 50% of her flank like it does in the show, instead of the tiny patch they usually use on Luna's dolls. Her eyes, while a little vague from the front, are accurate and look very nicely embroidered.

Her mane and Tail are also very nice. This is Season 1 Luna, who has a very complex yet insanely simple Mane and tail, and I feel they handled it just like it should have. I prefer Season 2 Luna more, so I would love to see them release one like that eventually too.

Finally, she comes with a glimmery tag with her name and a biography. It's very accurate and details her becoming Nightmare Moon and being defeated and returning to her original state. They didn't hold back on it, which I love. One detail I am confused about is that her tag on the front says "Special Edition". Does this mean Luna will only be available for a limited time only, or only online? I don't know for sure, as Aurora never said anything. If she does end up being Limited Edition, I suggest you buy one while you can. She's absolutely gorgeous!

So what is my opinion? I don't usually go so high, but 9.5/10. For something licensed by Hasbro, she is INSANELY accurate to the character and very detailed. She really surprised me with how well made she is. While I do think the merchandise should stop going for Season 1 Luna and would switch to the superior Season 2 design, I CAN see why they would prefer to make Season 1 merchandise, it's a lot more simple and her mane is easier to mass produce than Season 2's more ethereal, complex, sparkly, and translucent mane/tail. I REALLY hope Aurora keeps this up and released the other Princesses. I can't even imagine how beautiful a Celestia would be from them.

Thanks for reading! If this get's enough favorites and views, I think I'll do more reviews in the future! :)
